Jerry Rosenthal is Chief Executive Officer of Open Invention Network. He was previously Vice President, Intellectual Property an Licensing for the IBM Corporation.
Mr. Rosenthal joined IBM as a Systems Engineering Trainee in Washington, DC in May 1968 and was promoted to Associate Systems Engineer later that year. He became a Marketing Representative in 1970. He was promoted to Program Administrator, Medical Industry Marketing in Bethesda, Maryland in 1972 with responsibility for developing a program to support IBM’s marketing to medical schools, and then to Marketing Manager in the National Federal Marketing branch office in Bethesda, Maryland in 1974.
He was promoted to the DP Marketing Group staff as an Advisory Requirements Administrator in January 1978 and then to Program Manager, Commercial and Industry Relations, America’s Far East Corporation in 1982. Jerry then became Commercial Relations Representative, CHQ in August 1984 and became Program Manager, Commercial Relations in November 1987. In July 1988, he assumed responsibility for IBM’s licensing activities in the Far East, residing in Tokyo. In January 1992, he was promoted to the position of Director of Licensing, CHQ. In this position, Jerry had worldwide responsibility for managing the licensing of IBM’s intellectual property.
He received a BSEE in Electrical Engineering from New York University in 1964 and an MSEE in Electrical Engineering from New York University in 1966. He also received a law degree from Pace University in 1984 and is a member of the New York Bar.
Mr. Rosenthal is a member of the Board of Trustees for New York Medical College and a member of the Licensing Executives Society.
