Wayne H. Watkins joined The University of Akron in 2000 as the Director of the Fitzgerald Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies and as the Associate Vice President for Research. From 1987 to 2000 Wayne Watkins was the Director of Technology Commercialization and the Director of the Research and Technology Park at Utah State University. Mr. Watkins is the former Vice President, Manager and Corporate Counsel of the Hanover Companies, a diversified business holding company. He was also the administrator of the Utah Innovation Center.
Mr. Watkins taught graduate and undergraduate courses in Management of Technology and Innovation, New Venture Growth and Expansion, Business Policy, and Global Business. He has represented the World Intellectual Property Organization at several international conferences speaking on intellectual property, innovation and technology commercialization.
Mr. Watkins has a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, a Masters of Business Administration degree and a Juris Doctorate degree in law. He is a practicing attorney. Mr. Watkins has particular experience in technology based business development, business incubation and intellectual property management. Mr. Watkins has advised many emerging enterprises.
Mr. Watkins is an owner and principal of Frontier Scientific Inc , a specialty chemical developer and manufacturer for the research community.
