Noel M. Cook practices in the areas of trademark, copyright and trade secret law, with an emphasis on litigation. He joined the firm in 1989 after practicing with an Oakland firm specializing in business litigation, including intellectual property matters and complex insurance litigation. Mr. Cook received an A.B. degree cum laude from Kenyon College in Ohio in 1978. He received his J.D. degree in 1985 from the University of Santa Clara, where he was an editor of the Santa Clara Law Review. Prior to entering law school, Mr. Cook was employed with a federal regulatory agency in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Cook was admitted to the California Bar in 1986 and is admitted to practice before all state and federal trial and appellate courts in California. Mr. Cook is a member of the State Bar of California; the Bar Association of San Francisco; the American Bar Association (Intellectual Property Law section, Vice-Chair, Committee on Pictorial, Graphic and Sculptural Works, 1997-98); the International Trademark Association (Chair, Classification subcommittee, 1996-98); and the Copyright Society of the U.S.A. (Trustee, 1998-present, and Chair, Northern California Chapter, 1997-present).
In his spare time, Mr. Cook plays competitive tennis with a U.S. Tennis Association league team.
