This year's program features a luncheon address by the Honorable David J. Kappos, the Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Director Kappos will discuss the agency's implementation of the recently enacted "Amerca Invents Act (AIA)." The AIA's provisions relating to post-grant review will be the subject of a panel discussion. Among the panelists will be the former chief judge of the Federal Circuit, the Honorable Paul R. Michel. The ethical implications of the AIA will be discussed by Professor David Hricik. The program will also include a review of recent developments in patent, trademark, and copyright law, as well as a panel discussion on international IP, with speakers from China, Mexico, and France. Another panel will focus on IP and Internet, including a review of developments relating to domain name disputes.
