This year’s conference included a discussion of the patent law cases before the Supreme Court, a review of the Copyright Act of 1976 thirty years after enactment, and an analysis of the new federal dilution statute and of recent decisions of the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. The program also focused on international intellectual property law issues, including developments in Asia and Europe and the protection of industrial designs under the Hague Agreement, which was recently submitted to the Senate for ratification. The prospects of IP legislation in the new Democratic controlled Congress and the PTO’s ethics rules was explored. The invited luncheon speaker was Chris Israel, U.S. Coordinator for International Intellectual Property Enforcement. PROGRAM SCHEDULE
