This year's conference will focus on new developments in the courts, at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (PTO), and at the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) that are likely to have a significant impact on the practice of intellectual property law. Senior PTO management officials will descuss the agency's implementation of the initiatives set forth in the 21st Century Strategic Plan. A distinguished panel of speakers will address a recently released FTC report on patent law reform. The conference will also include a panel comprised of private and corporate counsel discussing the issue of willful patent infringement in light of the Federal Circuit's decision to hear arguments en banc on whether it should revise its willful infringement standards.
