Housing:

The School of Law Admissions Office sends detailed profiles on a number of on-campus and off-campus housing options to admitted students. This includes not only University and private rental options, but also a listing of where many current law students reside.

Roommate Connection Service:

Each spring the law school admissions office invites admitted students in search of a roommate to use its free roommate connection service. Participating students are featured in the Roommate Connection Directory, which profiles each student and lists contact information.

Commuter Connection Service:

Each spring the law school admissions office invites admitted students in search of a car pool partner to use its free commuter connection service. Participating students are featured in the Commuter Connection Directory, which profiles each person, when and from where they will be driving and contact information.

Health Insurance:

An affordable student health insurance program is available through Emerald Health Insurance Company. The registration packet is usually distributed to admitted law students during the summer before beginning law studies. Phone: (330) 922-1904.

Infirmary:

The University of Akron's Health Services is staffed by a medical doctor and registered nurses. First aid and limited medical care are available in the facility. Health Services refers students in need of specialized treatment to local physicians or local health care facilities. Phone: (330) 972-7808.

Counseling, Testing and, Career Center:

The on-campus Counseling and Testing Center offers professional psychological counseling, therapy and testing without charge to any student enrolled for credit at the University. Stress management, development of effective study habits, identification of learning disabilities and dealing with interpersonal problems are just a few of the special areas handled by center staff. Child-Care Services:

The University Center for Child Development is staffed by trained teachers and aides. Students with children needing care during classes or study time are eligible for this service at a nominal tuition. Registration is limited to children between 21/2 and 5 years of age and is open year round. During the summer, children who are graduates of kindergarten through third grade are eligible. Registration is handled on a per semester basis. Space is allotted hourly on a first-come, first-served basis for ages 3 through 5. Hourly, half-day and full-day programs are available.

Recreational Facilities:

The Gardner Student Center offers dining facilities, tickets/ film/fax service, banking, a game room, bowling alley, movie theatre, bookstore and copy center. Phone: (330) 972-7866. The University's physical education complex provides excellent opportunities for developing personal fitness and participation in intramural sports. The complex includes racquetball, weights and exercise equipment, tennis courts, playing fields, a large gymnasium, indoor and outdoor tracks and an Olympic-size swimming pool.

Students with Disabilities:

The School of Law works closely with disabled students to provide reasonable accommodations during the school year and examination periods. New students must submit documentation of their disabilities to the Dean's Office prior to the first semester of enrollment. Information will be sent to all admitted students.
