The above figures are calculated based on the following enrollment scenarios: For full-time students, 16 semester hours for the fall semester and 14 semester hours for the spring semester. For part-time students, 10 semester hours for the fall semester, 9 semester hours for the spring semester, and 5 semester hours for the summer term.
Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 Combined Financial Aid Budget
The amounts noted below reflect the MAXIMUM loan amount that a law student at The University of Akron School of Law could borrow for the fall 2007 and spring 2008 combined semesters. Students may certainly borrow less than the maximum amount. The Tuition and Fees figures are based on the first-year schedule of 16 hours in the fall and 14 hours in the spring for full-time students and 10 hours in the fall and 9 hours in the spring for part-time students. Law students are eligible to borrow a maximum of $20,500 in Federal Stafford Loan funds per academic year, depending on the student's Expected Family Contribution (EFC) number. Keep in mind that students may borrow beyond the $20,500 Stafford Loan up to the maximum loan amounts (as noted in the table below). Those funds would be secured through a private lender. Scholarship recipients who plan to borrow the maximum amount should remember that in accordance with federal financial aid guidelines that the scholarship value will be deducted from the maximum loan amount in order to avoid "double dipping" in the loan/scholarship program. Students may receive up to the maximum budgeted amounts through the loan/scholarship program. Please refer to the following table. Please note that the summer term is treated separately from the fall and spring semesters for financial aid purposes.
