Professor John P. Sahl is the Deputy Director of the Miller Institute of Professional Responsibility and a Research Fellow of the Constitutional Law Center at The University of Akron School of Law. He is an expert on lawyer and judicial ethics and discipline. Professor Sahl is a frequent speaker about these topics at continuing legal education and other programs in the United States and overseas. He has also authored articles in journals and books concerning professional ethics and discipline as well as other subjects. He has served as an expert witness in lawyer malpractice and other cases and he has also provided advisory opinions and preventive consultations to lawyers regarding professional responsibility and litigation. Professor Sahl is a long-standing member of the Ohio State Bar Association Committee on Professional Ethics and the Cleveland City Bar Association Committee on Professional Ethics.

Professor Sahl has taught the following courses: Professional Responsibility, Evidence, Antitrust, Family Law, and Sports and Entertainment Law. He regularly teaches a constitutional law seminar at Yale University to international lawyers and two seminars at the CEIDA Institute in Rome, Italy. While in Italy, Professor Sahl presents The Miller Institute's Annual International Lecture on professional responsibility. He has also taught at the Quinnipiac College School of Law in Connecticut and the Touro School of Law in New York.

Professor Sahl has held the following positions: Law Clerk to Chief Judge William J. Holloway, Jr. of the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit; Senior Counsel to the United States Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on the Constitution, Federalism and Property Rights; and Deputy Dean at the University of Bridgeport School of Law in Connecticut. He served as the U.S. Delegate to the L. Servini Institute for Magistrates (Perugia, Italy) and as Chair of the Connecticut Bar Association's Intellectual Property Section. He was also a member of the Connecticut Bar Association's Professional Ethics and Grievance Committees.

Professor Sahl received an LL.M. from Yale, a J.D. cum laude from Vermont Law School and a B.A. magna cum laude from Boston College. He is admitted to practice in Ohio, Connecticut and several federal courts.
