Law Library

School of Law Main Page
The Law Library has a useful collection of video tapes dealing with a variety of legal topics. The video tapes are cataloged on UA Libraries Catalog, the automated card catalog, and can be checked out for three days by law students and law faculty. Please bring your University of Akron ID to check-out the video tapes.

The video tapes can also be viewed in the Law Library. Law students and faculty can reserve a group study room that has a VCR and monitor. Other patrons can view the video tapes in carrels F5 and F6, which are equipped with monitor, VCR and headphones.

Please stop at the Circulation Desk to check out video tapes or use law library's VCR equipment.

How to search for the Law Library's video tapes

  1. Perform a subject search in the UA Libraries Catalog by clicking on the word "Subject" and entering a broad heading. Choose topics like- evidence, trial.
  2. To narrow your search click on the Limit/Sort Search button at the bottom of the page.
  3. For the material type option, select "audiovisual."
  4. For the location option, select "Law."
  5. Then click on the large Limit/Sort button at the bottom of the page.
If your search does not result in any law video tapes, select a broader subject in the beginning and repeat the above steps. The Law Library's video tapes have a classification number beginning with "LAW VIDEORECORDING." Do not confuse it with Bierce Library's Audio Visual video tapes that have a classification number "VIDEOTAPE E#".

If you find a video tape you are interested in, note the videorecording number, which functions as a classification number, and ask for the video tape at the Circulation Desk.
