Learning in law school is not like learning in most college programs. From day one, law students interact with the law as a lawyer would. Many excellent students are surprised by the amount and type of reading required, the method of classroom instruction, and the fact that a single exam essentially determines the semester grade. The mission of the Academic Success Program is to promote the achievement of law students by developing their critical and analytic thinking skills and study methods that will help them thrive. ASP is here to help law students figure out the best way to learn the law and assist them in fulfilling their academic potential. ASP endeavors to create a safe learning environment so that students may explore strategies that work best for them, and encourages students to learn new skills necessary to succeed in law school, pass the Bar Exam, and practice as a lawyer. ASP is here for you, so don’t pass up the opportunity to improve your ability to understand (briefing), organize (outlining), and apply the law (exam).

Workshops & Seminars
Throughout the year workshops and seminars are offered on a variety of law study related topics.Watch your e-mail for dates and times for the following workshops:
Group Study Sessions
ASP Group Study Sessions are regularly scheduled weekly sessions during which an ASP Assistant leads law study skills activities designed around first-year courses. ASP Assistants do not re-teach the content that the professors cover, rather the Assistant will use the course content in helping students apply the material. For example, the Assistant may lead a session on spotting issues in contracts cases or a session on responding to torts hypotheticals.
Individual Consultations
The ASP Director is available to meet with students to assess individual learning needs and develop customized study strategies.
