ASP Group Study Sessions are regularly scheduled weekly sessions during which an ASP Assistant leads law study skills activities designed around first-year courses. ASP Assistants do not re-teach the content professors cover, rather the assistants use the course content in helping students apply the material. For example, the assistant may lead a session on spotting issues in contracts cases or a session on responding to torts hypotheticals.
Why attend ASP Group Sessions:
ASP Group Study Sessions provide you practice with skills such as briefing, outlining, and exam writing, within the context of a particular subject. Honing these skills is fundamental to success in your courses.
What do I need to do to attend the Sessions:
Show up at the ASP Office Study Room (Room 315 of the Law Library) at the scheduled time and day. Any student may attend the group sessions. Attendance is voluntary. Students may attend all or some of the sessions.
How do I choose which sessions to attend:
- If you are having difficulty in a particular course, select that course to get more reinforcement of the concepts.
- If you are confident in all of your courses, attend the session you are best in to see how you can apply those successful strategies to your other courses.
- Feel free to attend all sessions to determine which ones are most helpful. Academic Success Program Group Study Sessions
