Brian graduated Magna Cum Laude in the top 10 percent of his class from the University of Akron School of Law in 2009. While at the University of Akron School of Law, Brian was awarded many academic awards, including:
• The Sanders J. Mestel Trial Advocacy Award (awarded to the most outstanding student in the area of Trial Advocacy);
• The Carmen V. Roberto, Esq. Scholarship (awarded to an outstanding student on the University of Akron School of Law's Trial Team;
• The Judge and Mrs. W.E. Pardee Memorial Scholarship;
• The Board of Trustees Scholarship, and;
• CALI Excellence for the Future Awards (Highest Grade in the Class) in Trial Advocacy II
• Named an Assistant Editor of the University of Akron Law Review for 2008.
Outside the classroom, Brian actively participated in University of Akron School of Law's nationally-ranked Mock Trial Program. In the Fall of 2007, he was a National Semi-Finalist at the Buffalo-Niagara Invitational Mock Trial Tournament, placing 3rd out of 40 teams at the largest single-site mock trial tournament in the United States. In the Spring of 2008, he was a national finalist at the "by invitation only" Gourley Invitational Trial Team Tournament, where he was named Best Advocate of the tournament. In the Fall of 2008, Brian was named Outstanding Advocate of the Preliminary Rounds at the prestigious National Civil Trial Competition in Los Angeles, CA. In the Spring of 2009, he was a Regional Champion and a National Quarterfinalist at the American Association for Justice Student Trial Advocacy Competition, finishing fifth in the United States.
Brian also competed in the highly regarded Landskroner Closing Argument Competition (open to advocates from all over Ohio), where he achieved second place honors in 2007 and first place honors in 2008. Brian currently assists Akron's nationally ranked trial team as a coach.
Outside the legal field, Brian is an experienced public speaker, winning several public speaking contests in his several years as a member of the Fairlawn Toastmasters Club and Toastmasters International.
Sutter, O'Connell & Farchione is a firm of trial lawyers, concentrating on the defense of catastrophic injury litigation. They have earned a national reputation by winning cases other firms are reluctant to take to trial. As an associate at Sutter, O'Connell & Farchione, Brian focuses his efforts on medical malpractice defense, products liability defense, and transportation industry defense.
