Deadline for Professors to notify Law IT whether or not they will be using ExamSoft for Fall 2011 Finals: Friday Nov. 4th
Download period for students to download the exam files for Fall 2011 Finals:Monday Nov. 14th 2011 to Sunday Nov. 27th 2011.
***THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS FOR MISSING THE DOWNLOAD PERIOD. If you miss the download date, then you must take the exam via a blue book.
FAQ'S
Installation Instructions:
- Visit www.examsoft.com/akronlaw then log in on the left hand side with your ExamSoft student ID and password.
- Click on the Download SoftTest button.
- Download & Install SofTest. (Computer may require restarting)
- Launch SofTest and register it using your StudentID and password.
- If you do not know your username or password, come to 153 to obtain it.
Entire Process for ExamSoft on Windows Machines:
- Students will be registered at the beginning of the Fall semester each year.
- Students will then need to download, install, and register, SoftTest from ExamSoft.
- When it comes to a time closer to exams, students will get a notification indicating that they are able to download the actual exam file. The students must do this within a given time period. There are no exceptions for missing the download deadline.
- On exam day, the students will receive the password from the professor that is proctoring the exams. The students then need to put in that password and start the exam.
- This will reboot their computer and boot into SoftTest. The student will need to get to the stop sign page and wait until the instructor tells them to proceed.
- After the exam is finished, students need to exit out of SoftTest. This will reboot the machine back into Windows. From here, SoftTest will look for an internet connection to upload the completed exam file back to ExamSoft. If the student’s wireless isn’t working correctly, then they can do it via hardwire in either the library or Room 153 (Technology Support Center)
- Technology Support will typically print off the exams around 11:00 on the next business day. After the exams are printed, they are given to the professors to grade.

Risks with using ExamSoft
There are various risks associated with using ExamSoft. You are responsible for assuring that you are fully prepared to use ExamSoft on the day of the exam. If you have not fully followed instructions or failed to download the latest updates to ExamSoft, you may experience delays in starting ExamSoft, and you may be unable to use it at all
There is the possibility that your exam answer on your laptop could get corrupted/lost before you upload it at the end of the exam. You would not have any record of your exam. ExamSoft saves your exam every 60 seconds as you are typing. The longer you wait to upload the exam the greater the risk.
If you spend time trying to get your laptop working after a malfunction, you are taking time away from writing your answers. This may have a detrimental effect on the grade you receive. If you have a problem with a computer during an examination and think you deserve additional time, you must have your instructor’s permission for additional time right then and there. You cannot expect that time lost during the exam while working on a computer problem will be considered later in how your examination is graded
