Courtland B. Manifold Papers Available for Research
Tapping a Brazilian rubber tree
Archival Services, a division of University Libraries, recently processed and preserved the papers of Courtland B. Manifold. Manifold (1894-1973) was a soil specialist who worked for the United States government as well as The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and Firestone Tire & Rubber Company. He investigated land in South America, West Africa, and the Far East for the planting of rubber trees during the first half of the twentieth century. Manifold’s papers contain his diaries and photographs that document his work and travels. The Courtland B. Manifold Papers and other historical resources on the history of the rubber industry are available by visiting Archival Services located in Room LL10 of the Polsky Building. The archives are open Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm.
