Tuesday Musical Club

Telephone Directories

Akron and surrounding area telephone directories, including Barberton, Clinton, Cuyahoga Falls, Macedonia, Uniontown, Tallmadge, Copley, Ghent, and Kenmore.


Tel-Buch Office Records

Range: 1964 - 1997 Size: 22 cubic feet Record Group: 52

The Tel-Buch is the yearbook of The University of Akron. The records mainly consist of photographs that appeared in the yearbook. The photographs document student clubs and organizations, athletics, campus buildings, and special events.

Tel-buch

Range: 1880 - 2008 Size: Record Group: 41/2

The Tel-buch is the annual yearbook of The University of Akron. It was originally titled Argo (1880) and The Buchtel (1882-1908) before becoming The Tel-buch. Yearbooks were not published for 1934, 1943, 1945-1947, 1949-1951.


Talalay Foam Rubber

Range: 1920s - 1940s Size: 40 cubic feet Record Group:

Agreements, correspondence, journals, proposals, patents, formulae and process descriptions, blueprints, photographs, and sample rubber products relating to the Talalay Foam Rubber process for manufacturing latex foam rubber. Chronicles the history and development of this invention which revolutionized the foam rubber industry.


Collections in Archival Services are classified by the following ways:

  • University Archives contain historical resources that document the history and development of The University of Akron and its predecessor institutions.
  • Special Collections contains personal papers of local families/individuals and organizational records of local organizations/businesses.  Strengths of the collection are primary and secondary sources documenting the history of the rubber industry, lighter-than-air flight, and Ohio canals. Special collections also include local government records for a nine county region.
  • Book collections include rare books and books documenting the history of the university, the region, and special topics.  All cataloged books are included in the UA Libraries Catalog.
