This collection of over 400 photo negatives portrays a sense of canal life during the late 1800s to early 1900s. Lockheed Martin Tactical Defense Systems in Akron, Ohio, became the successor of the aircraft division of the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. Materials in the collection mainly cover the development and manufacturing of airships (dirigibles). The bulk of the collection consists of photographs, photograph albums, and glass plate slides. Of special note are the factory construction logbooks and photographs depicting the assembly of the U.S.S. Akron and the U.S.S. Macon.[Finding Aid]
