Consists of personal and professional notes, correspondences, photographs, and plan drawings. Includes both published articles and manuscripts by Dr. Arnstein and his associates, as well as scripts for speeches and presentations given by Dr. Arnstein.

Flickinger, Maynard L. Papers

The Maynard L. Flickinger Papers were created while Flickinger worked for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co.’s Aeronautics Department, Goodyear Zeppelin Corporation, and Goodyear Aircraft Corporation.  The papers predominantly contain photographs and printed materials pertaining to an airship design or airship travel, especially the USS Akron and the USS Macon.

Correspondence, annual reports, financial reports, news releases and publicity, advertising, historical materials, materials relating to company history, historical materials relating to Charles Goodyear, audio-visual materials, photographs, scrapbooks, publications, aviation materials, materials relating to labor relations, employee activities, products files, materials relating to plants, plantations, realty and property, public relations, racing, scrapbooks, photograph albums, and news clippings.

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company Records, Aviation Series

The materials consist of documents (e.g., correspondence, press releases, reports, press clippings), photographs, publications, blueprint drawings, videotapes, and small artifacts primarily from – or created by – the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. Public Relations Dept. and maintained in the corporate archives. The records are arranged by the following topics: Airplanes, Airships, Balloons, Missiles/Rockets/Space and General corporate information on aviation.

Guggenheim, Daniel, Airship Institute Records

The Daniel Guggenheim Airship Institute was operated by the Municipal University of Akron from 1929 – 1949.  As part of the College of Engineering, the institute provided students with research opportunities relating to lighter-than-air flight, heavier-than-air flight, and meteorology.  The records consist of correspondence, technical reports, and administrative files.

Lighter-Than-Air Society

Correspondence, photographs, books, speeches, clippings, serials, films, and miscellany concerning lighter-than-air flight collected by the L-T-A Society. Materials from Akron, other activity in the United States and international (particularly Germany) lighter-than-air activity are included.

Lockheed Martin Tactical Defense Systems

Lockheed Martin Tactical Defense Systems in Akron, Ohio, became the successor of the aircraft division of the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. Materials in the collection mainly cover the development and manufacturing of airships (dirigibles). The bulk of the collection consists of photographs, photograph albums, and glass plate slides. Of special note are the factory construction logbooks and photographs depicting the assembly of the U.S.S. Akron and the U.S.S. Macon.
