VPN - Virtual Private Network

Overview:

A VPN is a secured private network connection that is established over public information infrastructure, such as the Internet or telephone lines. Setting up the VPN Client allows UA faculty, staff & students to access all of the library's web-based online resources from off-campus.

To set up the VPN, you must have a valid UAnet ID. Please call the Technology Learning Support Center at 330-972-6888 if you need more information about obtaining a UAnet ID. Once you have your UAnet ID, follow the instructions on the Support Center Wiki for VPN Setup.

Attention AOL USERS: When the VPN is running, you will not be able to access library resources while using the AOL browser. You can connect to the Internet via AOL and establish a connection to the UA VPN, but you must use a non-AOL browser such as Internet Explorer or Netscape to access online library resources. Contact the Technology Learning Support Center at 330-972-6888 for more details.

If you have problems setting up the VPN, contact the Technology Support Learning Center at 330-972-6888 or tlsc@uakron.edu.
