Science & Technology Library
Information/Reference Desk
The Science & Technology Library is located in 104 Auburn Science and Engineering Center.
The Library has three service desks, Circulation, Laptops, and Reference, all on the main
floor of the Library. The Reference desk is adjacent to the bank of fixed computers.
The Science and Technology Library supports the informational and research needs of the
university community in the pure and applied sciences, with particular emphasis on
teaching and research conducted in the Buchtel College of Arts and Sciences, the
College of Engineering, the College of Nursing, the College of Polymer Science and
Engineering, and Summit College.
The Reference desk is the appropriate service point for finding basic information such
as the location of books, journals, and other materials, and it is a good place
to go for basic instruction in the use of OhioLINK and the UA Library's online
catalog. It is also the appropriate service point for obtaining assistance in
utilizing reference books, indexes, electronic resources, databases, the World
Wide Web and in locating specialized research materials such as standards, patents,
and technical reports.
Both general information and research assistance are available at the Reference Desk
(330)972-7195 or by e-mail at scilib@uakron.edu.
Appointments for individual or group instruction by library subject specialists
can be made by contacting the appropriate subject specialist.
Hours:
The Reference Desk is staffed most of the hours that the library is open. Please note that hours vary according to building hours during intersessions and summer sessions. The following is the Fall/Spring semesters Reference Desk Schedule:
