Information/Reference Service Statement
Our Mission
The University Libraries is committed to providing the best possible information and reference service to all of its clientele on campus and within the larger community. We are here to direct you to the resources you need in order to fulfill your educational and research endeavors. We are also here to educate and empower you, by teaching research skills for a lifetime of information seeking. We value our mission and you. Ask us for help!
What We Will Provide
We have prepared ourselves to be able to respond to most of your informational needs. You can expect that we will do our very best to assist you and/or answer your questions, or we will direct you to an appropriate service point within the library or elsewhere on campus where your needs can be met.
For Students
In addition to providing general information about the library and campus, we will assist you in locating information for your class assignments, research papers, presentations, and projects. For instance, we will teach you how to locate books and journal articles, navigate the library web site, and offer suggestions for additional resources.
For Faculty
In addition to providing general information about the library and campus, our primary service mission to faculty is to support your teaching and research efforts by providing assistance in locating materials for course preparation and your research interests. For instance, we can help verify a citation, locate needed materials, borrow materials from other libraries, and direct you to additional library services, such as course reserves, collection services, and teaching and instruction services.
Doing Your Part: What We Expect From You
The Bierce and S & T Libraries provide study space for individual quiet study and group study. Please be considerate of the needs of your fellow students and observe the posted quiet study areas.
Please step into enclosed stairwells or step outside the library to make and receive cell phone calls.
We welcome your comments and suggestions as we continually strive to improve our services.
Thank you,
The University Libraries
