How to Find Books

The STATUS section in a catalog record indicates the availability of the particular item. For example, it tells whether or not an item circulates (may be checked out), and if it does circulate, if it is currently available.

Book Status

The most common STATUS descriptions you will see are:

AVAILABLE – (This tells us that the item does circulate and that it is currently available to check out)

DUE 11-05-06 – (A message like this tells us that the item has been checked out and is due back on 11-05-06)

NON-CIRC – (This tells us that this item does not circulate; that is, it must be used in the library. Most reference materials are non-circulating)

MISSING – (This indicates an item that has been declared missing from the library)
