- OhioLINK Video Contest Runner Up
- Congratulations to Dave Carulli and John Tamba, two University of Akron Media Production majors who received runner-up in the This is my OhioLINK video contest. Their video is titled, Unanswered Mysteries. Dave will receive a Hitachi Camcorder. There were over 5,000 votes casted and they received 2,101. The contest was part of the OhioLINK’s 15th anniversary program which was open to current students, faculty and staff who were affiliated with OhioLINK institutions. Dave and John’s video will be used along with the winner and five other videos to promote OhioLINK.

- Libraries to collect food in lieu of fines
- University Libraries will run its Food for Fines program March 10-30 to benefit the Akron-Canton Food Bank and the Harvest for Hunger drive. Students, staff and faculty with late fines may bring in nonperishable food items and receive $1 of credit toward their fines for every two food items received. (Sorry, this offer cannot be used to pay for lost or unreturned materials!) There is no limit on how many food items a patron may bring in.
- Food may be brought to the Circulation Department or Audio Visual Services at Bierce Library, to the Science and Technology Library in Auburn Science and Engineering Center, or the Law Library.
- Since 2004 the University Libraries has collected over 16,000 pounds of food to benefit the Food Bank.

- Creative nonfiction writer Gutkind to speak
- Lee Gutkind author of “Almost Human: Making Robots Think,” will discuss his book and his work at the Martin University Center Ballroom at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2nd.

- “Salute to our Military” display in Bierce Library, Ground Floor case by AVS
- The display supports the United States soldier’s who have served in the military from the Spanish American War to the current war in Iraq/Afghanistan. The display consist of personal military photos of family members from Bierce, sections on Vietnam and Disabled Veterans. The “In Memory of Ohio’s Fallen Soldiers” photo section displays the heartbreaking loss of our soldiers who have lost their lives in Iraq or Afghanistan.. - Oral History of the Crime Victim Assistance Field Online Video and
Audio Archive
- The University Libraries and Justice Solutions are pleased to announce the availability
of the Oral History of the Crime Victim Assistance Field online video archive
at http://vroh.uakron.edu/index.php. The
Web
site and archive represent the most
comprehensive, in-depth source of information about the history of the crime victims' field,
as told in the words of the pioneers and history-makers themselves.
- The site contains interviews with 55 history-making pioneers in the victims' rights and
assistance field and includes "panel interviews" with the original President's Task Force
members and past Directors of the Office for Victims of Crime, Office of Justice Programs,
U.S. Department of Justice. The more than 60 hours of video files makes it the largest video
history archives of its kind in the world. It should prove to be a valuable tool for
research and curriculum development.
- In addition to the online video archive, the University Libraries also hosts an on-site
version available at the Archival Services
department. The on-site version features full
screen video viewing and allows users to burn entire video interviews onto DVDs for off-site
use.
