About the Libraries
The five University of Akron libraries support the learning and research needs of faculty and students at the Akron and Wayne campuses and the Medina County University Center. The libraries provide print and media resources on site and access to well over 300 electronic databases, thousands of full text electronic journals, e-books, and other online resources that can be accessed either on campus or remotely 24/7.
The University of Akron Libraries are partners in OhioLINK, allowing our users to borrow materials from any of the 86 Ohio college and university libraries, the State Library of Ohio and several Ohio public library systems. In addition, the libraries are also members of the Center for Research Libraries and Online Computer Library Center (OCLC), which enables access to millions of general and scholarly resources worldwide.
Knowledgeable faculty and staff will assist you in finding, evaluating and applying the information you need for your learning and research. Subject specialists are available for assistance either in person, by phone, or via email or instant messaging.
The libraries provide computer workstations for retrieving information and completing assignments. Several offer loans of laptop computers and other amenities. There are also facilities for collaborative learning and research.

Bierce Library
Supports research and learning in the arts, education, humanities, social sciences, business and marketing. The libraries’ Reference and Instruction, Student Academic Success (University College tutoring services) and an Information Technology Network Support Desk provide services conducive to integrated learning. Science & Technology Library
Supports research and learning in the sciences, technology, polymers, engineering, health and medicine. The recently renovated library provides comfortable areas for collaborative learning for both students and faculty. Visit the Science & Technology Library website.
Archival Services
Acquires, preserves, and makes available the historical record of the University and its predecessor, Buchtel College (1870). Included are the official records of the University, dissertations and theses, yearbooks, and other University publications. Other special collections include materials related to Akron’s rubber industry and various local organizations, societies, and associations. Visit the Archival Services website.
Archives of the History of American Psychology.
Acquires, preserves and makes available the historical record of psychology in America. The manuscript collections include the papers of over 740 psychologists. Books, apparatus, equipment, testing materials, and media are also included. Visit the Archives of the History of Psychology website.
Law Library
Supports research and learning in legal studies. The collection contains print and full text electronic resources that provide both historic and current interpretation, application and documentation of the varied fields of legal research and practice. There is a significant intellectual property collection in support of the Center for Intellectual Property Law and Technology. Visit the Law Library website.
Wayne College Library
