How Bridges Work and Fall Apart

How Bridges Work and Fall Apart
This course covers the basics of bridge design. The fundamental forces that bridges resist, tension, compression and bending, will be explained via hands-on demonstrations and real bridge parts, old and new. These elements will then be applied to model bridges made by the students calculating the efficiency of their design...and then break them! Through these bridge failures, the students will learn of the strengths and weaknesses of various bridge designs.
