Biography

Dr. Matthew A. Wyszynski, Professor of Modern Languages, received his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan (1996) and a BA in Spanish from The University of Akron (1990).

Prof. Wyszynski taught at the University of Texas at Arlington before joining the University of Akron faculty in July, 1998. Prof. Wyszynski specializes in Spanish Golden Age literature, and in particular Cervantes. He is currently co-editor of the H-Cervantes discussion list. In April 2001 Prof. Wyszynski was the recipient of the Chairs’ Award for Notable Achievement in Early Career.

As lab director, he has sought and received funding to purchase the most up-to-date technology for the LRC. He is also a certified OPI tester, and has integrates proficiency and CALL in his teaching.

Research Interests: Golden Age literature, rhetoric, and most recently, Theory of Mind (TOM).

Teaching Interests: Spanish literature, culture and history; online learning; composition.
