Modeling and Simulation Lab

1. Lab Description and Capabilities

  • Equipped with advanced computers and both in-house and commercial modeling software to predict, prevent, and manage corrosion

2. Deliverables

  • Model and simulate physics-based problems based on advanced numerical methods
  • Identify corrosion hot spots and predict corrosion rates
  • Provide thermodynamic and kinetic modeling and long term projections of corrosion processes
  • Calculate multi-component phase diagram and simulate materials properties
  • Predict relationship of material’s atomic and molecular structure with its properties and behavior

3. Major Equipment and Specific Minor Equipment

  • Six computers designated for simulation software, each equipped with two monitors
  • COMSOL Multiphysics software
  • Elsyca software, including Cad2Mesh, Corrosion Master, Curve Analyzer, and XPlorer programs.
  • OLI Studio software
  • PANDAT software
  • Biovia software (Timkin Engineered Surfaces Laboratory)
