About Our Faculty
While traditional MFA programs offer a limited number of faculty members for students to work with, the NEOMFA provides the creative writing faculty of four large universities for students to draw upon both in individual courses and in a mentoring capacity for the thesis. Our professors are working writers who publish widely, and represent a dazzling range of sensibilities. We’re home to both traditional and experimental writers who look forward to working with students at every point in between.
The NEOMFA faculty has gained regional and national recognition as distinguished creative writers and teachers through numerous publications, performances, and awards. Creative writing awards won by NEOMFA faculty members include fellowships/awards from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Ohio Arts Council, the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, the West Virginia Arts and Humanities Commission, the Pushcart Prize, the Chillicothe Award, The MacDowell Colony, The Cleveland Arts Prize, and ASCAP awards for musical theatre. Faculty members regularly attend conferences such as AWP, and serve as visiting writers at other institutions of higher education, offering readings and workshops, and also serve on committees and boards of regional and national organizations for promotion of the literary arts.
