Patricia Millhoff Named Director of Women's Studies Program
Akron, Ohio, Sept. 10, 2004 — The University of Akron has named Patricia Millhoff, assistant professor of criminal justice technology, director of its Women's Studies program. Millhoff is a graduate of The University of Akron School of Law, and has been practicing criminal law for more than 20 years. Since joining the University's Department of Public Service Technology in 2000, she has served as a Women's Studies Coordinating Council board member, and has organized and participated in panels for the program's Women's History Month activities. Her new appointment is pending approval at the September Board of Trustees meeting. Dr. Elizabeth Stroble, UA senior vice president and provost, says Millhoff brings important administrative and development experience to the Women's Studies director position. “I anticipate a successful year for the program as Pat Millhoff links Women's Studies strongly with academic programs across campus,” says Stroble. “I believe that her skill in working with members of the Coordinating Council for Women's Studies and many other key individuals and groups across campus will serve the program well.” Millhoff says she is looking forward to the challenges of a multi-disciplinary program. “More than 180 students are registered for Women's Studies classes this fall,” she says. “This demonstrates the interest of the 21st century student in the ways women have influenced society.” A Norton resident, Millhoff volunteers for the American Red Cross Disaster Family Services and the Road Runner Marathon. She has made presentations at criminal justice conferences nationwide. In October she will participate in the Midwestern Criminal Justice Association Annual Meeting and the Ohio Association of Two-Year Colleges Annual Conference. Return...
