‘College for Kids’ at UA Is Accepting Applications
Akron, Ohio, Aug. 24, 2005 — The University of Akron is accepting applications for “College for Kids,” a career and academic program to inspire students ages 9 to 12 to excel academically. The program will run Friday, Sept. 23 to Saturday, Nov. 5, with Saturday morning classes in Buckingham Center Room 201 on The University of Akron campus. Class highlights include presentations from accomplished professionals in engineering, communications, public safety, medicine, business and education. Students will learn etiquette, scientific method, constructing a paragraph and the benefits of a college education. UA students will be on hand to share and answer questions about their experiences and aspirations. The program also includes a field trip and ends with a formal graduation ceremony and an invitation to attend the NAACP Freedom Fund Dinner on Nov. 6. Cost is $75.
