Enrollment Up 4 Percent in 2006-07
Akron, Ohio, Sept. 19, 2006 — The University of Akron has compiled its 14-day enrollment numbers for the 2006-07 academic year, which are required by the State of Ohio. The final numbers are even higher than anticipated on the first day of classes: • University-wide headcount enrollment is up 4 percent at the Akron and Wayne campuses. The total student population is 23,539. • University-wide student-credit-hour production, and therefore full-time equivalent count, are up 5.3 percent, to 270,557 and 18,037, respectively. • The freshman class is up 16 percent, to 3,946. (A previous report of a 23 percent increase included students who were admitted in the spring but waited until fall to enroll.) • Total Akron-campus headcount enrollment is up 4 percent, while headcount enrollment at the Wayne College campus also grew by 4 percent.
