Author Stephen Covey to Lead UA Forum, Leadership Training Session

Stephen R. Covey, author of "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People," the best-selling management book of all time, will visit The University of Akron on Tuesday, Feb. 26.

He will lead two public events, an "Insights on Leadership" training session from 8 to 11 a.m. and a community engagement session from 3 to 5:30 p.m., as well as an invitation-only luncheon with civic leaders. The events will be at E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall.

The cost for the morning session is $299 per person, $199 for groups of 50 or more, and $99 for UA students, faculty and staff. The cost for the community engagement session is $325 per person. Scholarships will be provided by University Park Alliance to community groups and individuals who meet selection criteria.

During the community engagement session, Covey will share his experiences from working with communities worldwide. Through participant engagement, Covey will apply his theory of action to issues unique to the Akron area, helping to build trust between community organizations, define top priorities and begin sharing the framework to a long-term process that will create a cadence of accountability among community partners.

Akron will be one of 15 to 20 communities to participate in this pilot phase, which will be the basis of Covey's new book.

Covey's visit is presented by The University of Akron and University Park Alliance. For more information, to register, or to apply for a scholarship, call 330-972-8859 or visit http://www.uakron.edu/covey.
