Residence Halls Earn Top Regional Honors
Akron, Ohio, Feb. 29, 2008 — The University of Akron was named the 2008 Regional School of the Year by the Central Atlantic Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls (CAACURH). This is the highest residence hall honor in the region. "We are pleased and honored to have been chosen for the prestigious CAACURH regional award," says John Messina, UA Director of Residence Life and Housing. "Student leaders and residence hall staff have worked together to create an exceptional environment in which students can thrive and enjoy their college years. Our students make all the difference." CAACURH is composed of colleges and universities from Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Delaware, New Jersey, Maryland and the District of Columbia. UA is now one of eight finalists for the National School of the Year Award, which will be presented at the NACURH national conference at Oklahoma State University in May. UA has received the Regional School of the Year Award six times since 1989 and was named National School of the Year in 1992 and 2000.
