Madeleine Albright, Melanie Griffith to visit UA March 1 for Clinton Rally Former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, actress Melanie Griffith and Chelsea Clinton will speak at an “Ohio Women Make History!” rally at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 1 in The University of Akron Student Union Ballroom. The three are promoting U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton's campaign for president. Support in Sisterhood, a registered student organization, is sponsoring the event. Guests will include U.S. Reps. Stephanie Tubbs Jones, D-Ohio, Nydia Velázquez, D-N.Y., and Allyson Schwartz, D-Pa.; former Maryland Lt. Gov. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend; and EMILY's List president and founder Ellen Malcolm. News Anchor Ann Curry to Visit UA March 10 News Anchor Ann Curry will speak about her experiences as a journalist and the roles and responsibilities of the media in our society, as well as politics, business and family on Monday, March 10, at 7:30 p.m. at E.J. Thomas Hall. Her presentation is part of The University of Akron Forum Series and Dorothy Garrett Martin Memorial Delta Gamma Lectureship on Values and Ethics. JazzFest Cabaret Concert March 12 JazzFest is returning to The University of Akron from March 10 to 14. Now in its seventh year, the festival features cabaret and orchestra concerts, master classes and more, showcasing Northeast Ohio musicians and trumpeter Marvin Stamm and pianist Bill Mays. The signature event of JazzFest 2008 is the E.J. Cabaret Concert on Wednesday, March 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the Robertson Lobby of E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall. Seating will be club-style and desserts and drinks will be available for purchase. The E.J. Cabaret Concert will feature Stamm, Mays and the UA Faculty Jazz Ensemble led by trumpeter Jack Schantz with Rich Shanklin on sax, Bob Fraser on guitar, Tim Powell on bass and Mark Gonder on drums. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for UA students. Tickets are also available in advance from the E.J.
