Barry Lefkowitz Pool Tournament Is March 29
Akron, Ohio, March 5, 2008 -- Would-be Willie Mosconis at The University of Akron will once again be able to rack 'em up and win scholarships at the annual Barry Lefkowitz Scholarship 9-Ball Billiards Tournament. The tourney will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, at the Student Union Game Room. The first-place finisher will earn a $1,000 scholarship; second and third place will receive $500 and $250 scholarships, respectively. The tournament was founded in 2002 and is funded by Barry Lefkowitz, retired senior vice president at Salomon Smith Barney in Cleveland. Lefkowitz, a 1966 marketing graduate of the university, was billiards champion at UA in 1965-66. Players must be current UA students; Early College High School students are eligible.
