UA College of Business to Host Social Responsibility Lecture Series
The University of Akron's College of Business Administration will continue its social responsibility lecture series with Kevin O'Donnell, who will speak from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25, in Buckingham Center for Continuing Education, Room 201. His talk, free and open to the public, is titled “Murphy's Law and Your Career.”

O'Donnell was head of the Peace Corps from 1971 to 1972; CEO and chairman of SIFCO Industries from 1989 to 1994; and has been managing director of O'Donnell and Associates since 1994.


Women's History Month Events at UA
Author Christina Page will visit The University of Akron as part of the University's Women's History Month event series. She will discuss her book titled “How the Pro-Choice Movement Saved America: Freedom, Politics and the War on Sex” on Tuesday, March 25 at 6 p.m. in the Martin University Center. This event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 330-972-7008.


Europe's Leading Generative Artist will be in Residence at UA March 24-28
Europe's leading generative artist, Marius Watz, will be in residence March 24 to 28 at The University of Akron's Mary Schiller Myers School of Art. Watz's residency features free public events and coincides with "Marius Watz: ElectroPlastiques," an exhibition of his work from March 24 through April 23 in the Emily Davis Gallery in Folk Hall.

Watz will discuss his work in a free lecture at 6 p.m. on Monday, March 24, in the Folk Hall auditorium.

During the evenings of March 25 to 27, the exterior walls of E.J. Thomas Hall will be illuminated with projections and sounds of music, which include Watz's abstract self-generating designs.

Also highlighting Watz's residency is “EJ.mix,” a dialogue beginning at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, at E.J. Thomas Hall.

'X PRIZE' Founder to Speak at UA
Peter Diamandis, an international leader in the commercial space arena, will speak at The University of Akron about his X PRIZE Foundation from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, March 25 in Student Union Ballrooms C and D.

This free event, titled “The Best Way to Predict the Future Is to Create It Yourself,” will feature a presentation by Diamandis on the foundation's plans to launch major incentive competitions in the arenas of space, energy, environment and life sciences. A question-and-answer session will follow his presentation.


UA Bliss Institute Speaker is Media Consultant
Tom Edmonds, president of Edmonds Associates Inc., will present “The Republicans Are Coming, The Republicans Are Coming” at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 27 in The University of Akron's Leigh Hall, Room 207. Edmonds Associates is a media consulting group based in Vienna, Va.

The presentation, part of the Bliss Institute's Political Insights Series, is free and open to the public. Because of limited seating, R.S.V.P. to the Bliss Institute at 330-972-5182.
