Alumna Frances Seiberling Buchholzer to Speak at Women in Politics Luncheon
Akron, Ohio, March 25, 2008 -- University of Akron alumna Frances Seiberling Buchholzer, an active public leader and a member of the Ohio Women's and Conservation halls of fame, will speak at a Women in Politics luncheon during Women's History Month. The luncheon event will be on Monday, March 31, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Martin University Center Ballroom. The event, including lunch, is free and open to the public. Lunch attendees are asked to RSVP to 330-972-5182. Buchholzer has been a Metro Parks Serving Summit County commissioner since 1995. She is also on the Ohio Advisory Council for The Trust for Public Land. She has a bachelor's degree from the University of Akron and a master's degree in geomorphology from the University of Iowa. She was the first woman director of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, serving from 1991 to 1995. She was inducted into the Ohio Natural Resources Hall of Fame in 2003. In 2006, Buchholzer received the Louis Bromfield Society Award from the Malabar Farm Foundation. Program sponsors are the university's Ray C.
