Victorian Fair at UA's Hower House April 4 and 5 Victorian Fair 2008, a unique shopping event, returns to The University of Akron's Hower House April 4 and 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $3 at the door, which includes entry into a drawing for a gift basket from the Cellar Door Store. Raffle tickets for prizes donated by local artisans also will be sold. Hower House is located at 60 Fir Hill. Free parking is available at the Martin University Center, 105 Fir Hill. UA Steel Drum Band to perform Caribbean jazz April 5 Caribbean, jazz and classical music will mix when The University of Akron Steel Drum Band performs on Saturday, April 5 at 8 p.m. at E.J. Thomas Hall. This year's guest artists include Trinidadian pan player Sophia Subero, solo champion of the 2000 World Steelband Music Festival. Local rock legend Jonah Koslen of the Michael Stanley Band will also join in with his “Flip Flop Song” that he composed for the UA Steel Drum Band's 2006 CD titled “By Request.” Tickets are available in advance and at the door. Regular-price tickets are $18 for reserved seating. Discount tickets are $16 for seniors, children 12 and under, and UA faculty, staff and retirees and $9 for UA students with Zip Cards. UA's Office of Multicultural Development presents 'Art History in the Making' The University of Akron's Office of Multicultural Development presents "Art History in the Making," featuring the works of Woodrow Nash, an international artist and Akron Public Schools graduate whose art is featured in galleries around the world. Nash's artwork will be featured throughout April in the Buckingham Center for Continuing Education, 220 Wolf Ledges Pkwy., on the UA campus. An open house and reception to celebrate Nash's art will be held Sunday, April 6 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Buckingham Center. For more information, call 330-972-7030.
