OfficeMax Co-founder Michael Feuer Is Kaufman Speaker

Akron, Ohio, April 2, 2008 — OfficeMax co-founder Michael Feuer is the next presenter in The University of Akron's Kaufman Business Speaker Series, hosted by the College of Business Administration.

His talk, “The Entrepreneurial Journey: Discovering the Holy Grail for Success - What's Fact, What's Fiction?” is free and open to the public. It will be held at 1:45 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15 in the Student Union Theatre.

Feuer, chief executive and senior managing director of Max-Ventures LLC, was a co-founder and former chief executive of OfficeMax, the international office products company. He will discuss how the company he founded with a single store grew into a multi-billion-dollar corporation.

Before founding OfficeMax, he was a key member of a team that transformed Jo-Ann Fabrics into a 1,000-store national chain.

Feuer is on the boards of numerous businesses, academic institutions and philanthropic organizations, including Lasik Vision Centers, University Hospitals Case Medical Centers of Cleveland, Baldwin Wallace College Business School and the Thunderbird School of Global Management in Arizona.

“We are very pleased to have entrepreneur Michael Feuer join us in this annual series,” says Steve Ash, coordinator of the Kaufman program, and director of the Fitzgerald Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies and associate professor of management. “It's fitting that this consummate entrepreneur's current passion is Max-Ventures LLC, a venture capital organization that nourishes innovative businesses with an infusion of capital and hard-won expertise.”

The Kaufman Speaker Series was founded by The University of Akron's College of Business Administration through a gift from Donald L. Kaufman, retired CEO of Alside Inc. A member of UA's College of Business Administration Advancement Council and The University of Akron Foundation, Kaufman is a frequent guest lecturer to business students.

The program is free and open to the public. The series also is sponsored by UA's Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) Chapter. For more information, call 330-972-6429 or e-mail to ash@uakron.edu.
