UA to Broadcast Hospice Teleconference
Akron, Ohio, April 11, 2008 ― The University of Akron will broadcast the Hospice Foundation of America's 15th annual national teleconference, “Living with Grief: Children and Adolescents,” on Wednesday, April 16. The broadcast will be in Student Union Room 312 from 1:15 to 4:30 p.m. UA is sponsoring the broadcast with partners Barberton Hospice and Palliative Care, and Hospice of Medina County. The program focuses on how professionals, educators, counselors, parents, social workers, physicians, grief counselors, funeral directors and clergy can support grieving children and adolescents. It will examine the newest theories, practices and academic research with hands-on ideas for application in a variety of settings. Frank Sesno, professor of media and public affairs at George Washington University and CNN correspondent, will moderate a panel that includes Kenneth J. Doka of the College of New Rochelle, Nancy Hogan from the Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing, Rita Milburn-Dobson of Precious Gems Supportive Services, Laura E. Olague from Children's Grief Center, Stacy F. Orloff from The Hospice of the Florida Suncoast and J. William Worden from the Harvard Childhood Bereavement Study.
