UA Forum Series Presents Martin Sheen April 21
Award-winning actor, social activist and humanitarian Martin Sheen will present the John S. Knight Lecture on Monday, April 21 at 7:30 p.m. at E.J. Thomas Hall to wrap up the 2007-08 University of Akron Forum Series. He will speak about political and humanitarian causes.

This event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required. For tickets, call 330-972-7570 or visit the E.J. Thomas Hall Box Office.


UA Earth Day 'Do it for the EnviROOnment' Events Include Speakers, Demonstrations
The University of Akron will celebrate Earth Day with a series of events on Wednesday, April 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Student Union. All events are open to the public.

Events include: a speech by Dag Adamson of Lifespan Recycling; showings of the short movie, "The Digital Dump" and Discovery Channel's "Planet Earth;" a cooking demonstration by VegiTerranean staff; and an electric car display. Musicians, artists and more than 30 planet-friendly exhibitors will be on hand to entertain and educate.

The events, which will be held on the second floor of the Student Union and outdoors, weather permitting, are coordinated by the Blue, Gold and Green Committee and Environmental Akron. For a full schedule of events, visit http://www.uakron.edu/info/green/earthday2008.php .


UA Psychology Archives Continues Colloquium Series
The University of Akron's Archives of the History of American Psychology presents colloquium speaker Dr. Lewis Lipsitt on Thursday, April 17 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in the Simmons Hall Auditorium. His presentation is titled “Behavior Kills, But Developmental Interventions Work: Psychology as the Premier Health Science.”

Lipsitt is a developmental psychologist and professor emeritus at Brown University, where he has been since 1957. He is now a research professor supported by grants to continue longitudinal work into adulthood on 4,000 children he and colleagues have studied since birth.
