University Changes Room and Board Fees to Maintain Quality
Akron, Ohio, April 23, 2008 — At its regular meeting today, The University of Akron's Board of Trustees approved the administration's recommendation to adjust room and board fees beginning this fall. For the 2008-09 academic year, room rates will increase 5 percent for all but Garson Residence Hall, and meal plans will increase 4 percent — a move that will enable the University to continue to offer housing and dining services that are high-quality, appealing, safe and comprehensive. The University offers a variety of room and board options to students, with fall 2008 costs ranging from $3,816 to $7,535 annually for rooms and from $2,684 to $3,700 annually for meal plans. In other action, the Board approved a list of 2,232 candidates for graduation in Spring 2008 Commencement ceremonies on May 10-11 and 18. This total is the highest for the University in 10 years.
