Golf Tournament to Benefit UA Hospitality Management Program
The Akron/Summit Convention and Visitors Bureau will host the fifth annual Hospitality Scholarship Golf Tournament at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13 at the J.E. Good Park Golf Course, 530 Nome Ave., Akron. The tournament will celebrate the creation of the Donald L. Patterson Hospitality Scholarship to benefit University of Akron students and National Tourism Week 2008.

The tournament, including lunch, refreshments and 18 holes of golf with a cart costs $60 per person. The deadline to register is Friday, May 2. To register, call 330-374-7560.

The tournament is sponsored by UA's Summit College Hospitality Management Program and the Akron/Summit Convention and Visitors Bureau.


Marvin Hamlisch to Perform at E.J. Thomas May 2
The University of Akron School of Music welcomes Marvin Hamlisch to the E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall stage on Friday, May 2 at 8 p.m. Hamlisch has composed for more than 40 films, including his Oscar-winning score and song for "The Way We Were" and his adaptation of Scott Joplin's music for "The Sting," for which he received his third Oscar.

This celebrated composer, conductor and pianist joins The University of Akron School of Music's Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Band, and Choirs for a musical evening of Hollywood favorites. His performance is presented by OMNOVA Solutions Foundation and E.J. Thomas Hall.

Tickets are $25 and $20 for general admission; $23 and $18 for seniors, children 12 and under, UA faculty, staff and retirees; and $12.50 and $10 for UA students.
