Summit College Offers Credit for Work Experience
Akron, Ohio, May 6, 2008 — The University of Akron's Summit College is offering college credit for work experience in intended majors. Students can earn up to 24 hours of credit toward an associate degree through the college's Technical Experience Assessment (TEA) program. Students demonstrate their knowledge by submitting portfolios that are reviewed by faculty. TEA is a three-year pilot program in the following Summit College programs: early child development, emergency medical services, fire protection technology, criminal justice, community service technology, hospitality management, computer information systems, office administration, marketing and sales technology, business management and paralegal studies. Mandatory, non-credit workshops on developing portfolios will be every Tuesday from May 20 to July 8.
