Dean Ronald Levant Accepts Prestigious New Posts
Akron, Ohio, May 22, 2008 — Dr. Ronald Levant, dean of The University of Akron Buchtel College of Arts and Sciences, has been elected president of the Ohio Council of Deans of Colleges of Arts and Sciences. This new organization for public universities in Ohio promotes information and resource sharing, and fosters innovation and collaboration. It is modeled to some extent after the highly successful State University Education Deans organization. "This position will enable me to provide leadership to deans of Colleges of Arts and Sciences of Ohio's public universities at a critical time — at the onset of the first 10-year plan of the new University System of Ohio,” says Levant. Additionally, Levant has been appointed to the Council of Colleges of Arts and Sciences Committee on Research Universities for 2008. The Council of Colleges of Art and Sciences is the national professional organization for deans of Colleges of Arts and Sciences.
