UA Receives $20.4 Million in State Capital Budget Bill
Akron, Ohio, June 11, 2008 — The University of Akron's planned Polymer Processing Center, new College of Education facilities, and other campus units will benefit from funding provided through the approval of a state biennial projects bill in the Ohio House of Representatives. The capital projects funded by the $20,379,671 given to the university include: • $7,363,281 toward construction of the Polymer Processing Center; • $5,056,161 for basic campus renovations; • $5 million for design and construction management services for new College of Education facilities; • $1,452,047 for campus lighting, landscaping, signage and other projects; and • $258,182 for renovation and expansion projects at Wayne College. “We are grateful for this financial support of vital university projects that will benefit our students and our programs,” says Dr. Elizabeth Stroble, senior vice president and provost and chief operating officer of The University of Akron.
