UA Hosting 'Camp Law School' on Saturday
WHAT: Nearly 40 seventh- and eighth-graders from the Akron Public Schools will learn about careers in law and law enforcement as The University of Akron hosts a “Camp Law School” event. WHEN: 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 11. WHERE: Buckingham Center Room 201. ETC.: Students will have the opportunity to participate in a mock law school class and mock Street Law class, and watch an attorney/law student diversity panel discussion. Speakers for the event will include Shirley Simon, chair, Akron Bar Association Street Law Project; Lt. Richard Roach, training department, Summit County Sheriff's Department; Officer Lloyd Ford, community relations, Akron Police Department; Marvin Raspberry, bailiff, Summit County Common Pleas Court; Malina Coleman, associate dean and associate professor, University of Akron School of Law; attorneys Alex Folk, Tavia Galonski, Leonard Hazelett, Candace Campbell-Jackson and Walter Madison; Deborah Stone, coordinator, Strive Toward Excellence Program; Judge Brenda Burnham Unruh; and UA law students.
