Polymer Researchers Lecturing at Nanotechnology Conference
Akron, Ohio, Sept. 16, 2003 — Five University of Akron polymer professors and students will discuss the results of their research at an international conference on polymer nanocomposites. The faculty members and students — representing The University of Akron's College of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering — will speak at Polymer Nanocomposites 2003, to be held Oct. 6-8 in Boucherville, Quebec, Canada. The UA researchers are: • Younghoon Kim, graduate assistant, Institute of Polymer Engineering, and Dr. James L. White, professor of polymer engineering, “Mechanisms of Melt Mixing to Form Montmorillonite-Polymer Nanocomposites with Application to Halogenated and Acrylonitrile Based Polymers.” • Dr. Lloyd Goettler, chair, Department of Polymer Engineering, and Keun Yong Lee, graduate assistant, polymer engineering, “Structure and Properties of Polymer Blend Nanocomposites.” • And Dr. R. Byron Pipes, director, Akron Global Polymer Academy, and representatives from McGill University, “Scale Effects in Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotube Ropes.” Return...
