Ira Sasowsky Elected as Fellow in Geological Society of America
Akron, Ohio, Nov. 7, 2003 — Dr. Ira Sasowsky, associate professor of geology and director of the center for environmental studies at The University of Akron, recently joined an elite group of geology professionals as a fellow in the Geological Society of America. Sasowsky's fellowship was based on his broad-based contributions to the hydrogeology profession and the science. He earned a bachelor of science degree in geology from the University of Delaware, and a master's and a doctoral degree in geology from Penn State University. A Bath Township resident, Sasowsky joined The University of Akron in 1995. He is a member of numerous organizations, including the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, Geological Society of America, National Speleological Society and the National Association of Geology Teachers.
