Peter Cahoon is Speaker at Law School Commencement
Akron, Ohio, May 4, 2004 — University of Akron alumnus Peter T. Cahoon, president-elect of the Akron Bar Association, will be the guest speaker at the UA School of Law commencement ceremony on May 16. Cahoon, an attorney with Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs LLP, will speak to the law graduates at E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall on “Looking Toward Tomorrow.” A reception for Cahoon and the 165 law school graduates will follow the ceremony in the Goodrich and Robertson lobbies. After earning a bachelor of arts degree in 1974 at New York University, Cahoon earned a juris doctor degree at UA in 1977. He has been an adjunct professor of trial advocacy at the University of Akron School of Law since 1993. Certified in 1996 as a criminal trial advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, Cahoon has represented clients in civil, domestic relations and criminal matters in Summit, Stark, Portage, Cuyahoga, Tuscarawas, Wayne, Mahoning and Huron counties. Cahoon's honors include being recognized by his peers as one of Ohio's “Super Lawyers” in 2004 in Cincinnati Magazine. He also is a recipient of the UA School of Law's Quine Award. Return...
